How we review storage products

We begin with the room constraint, verify the exact variant, compare documented trade-offs, and state what we could not test. A product cannot win a use case if its fit or decisive specification is unknown.

We compare documented dimensions, installation requirements, components, and safety evidence before making a recommendation.

1. We define the user problem

Each comparison names a concrete job: fit an adjustable freestanding system into a narrow wall, keep a shoe cabinet out of the entry path, or clear a toilet and its plumbing. We do not compare unrelated products as though one universal winner exists.

2. We use a source hierarchy

PrioritySourceUse
AGovernment safety guidance, manufacturer manuals, official product pagesSafety, dimensions, material, installation, declared loads, warranty
BExact retail listingVariant identity, ASIN, point-in-time availability, missing attributes
CTraceable editorial publicationsCategory context, competing criteria, questions worth investigating
DForums and public commentsDiscover possible failure modes; never confirm facts alone

3. We verify the exact variant

Names are not enough. We match model, size, color only when it changes structure, ASIN when relevant, assembled dimensions, manual, and date checked. Package size is not treated as assembled size. If width/depth/height order is unclear, the value stays unconfirmed.

4. We score only documented criteria

Each comparison publishes its weights. Scores, when used, are editorial calculations from 0–10 per criterion. Missing data is labeled “not documented” and lowers documentation confidence; it is never replaced with an average. A manufacturer load is identified as manufacturer-stated, not as our result.

5. We separate four kinds of evidence

6. We do not aggregate other sites’ ratings

Amazon stars or review counts can change and do not become a Casa Ordenada rating. We do not place third-party aggregate ratings in our structured data. Google’s review guidance favors original, insightful analysis; a copied star badge is neither.

7. We treat safety as a gate

A tall or narrow product is checked for anchoring instructions, and wall-mounted systems are checked for manuals and wall requirements. We cite authoritative guidance such as the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. We do not invent universal anchors for an unknown wall.

8. We update without changing stable URLs

Dates indicate the latest substantive review. A discontinued or poorly documented product can be replaced inside the same comparison while the user intent and URL remain stable. Corrections that affect a recommendation are reflected in the text and modified date.

9. Commerce is separate from selection

The site currently has no active affiliate links. If Amazon Associates approves the site, link-level disclosure and Amazon’s required identification will be added. Commission percentage will not be a scoring factor.
